I was in shock for a full five minutes before I could talk...

I don't believe that one! Right now as slow as eBay is. It is a wonder they are even getting lookers.

As much as I love bears, I wouldn't pay $25,000 for one bear even if I had that kind of money unless the bear came with a car and he was able to drive. it.

Wow - just would have the front to publish this !
Indeed - I'll watch the auction - wanna see who is as crazy to bid for!
Never ever - but maybe the seller smoked his carpet ?!

Not only would he have to have a grand piano under him, but he would need to be able to play it, lol.

Did you read the description:

Age: "Unknown believe Mid-1800 to very early 1900s?" No stuffed teddy bears were ever made in the 19th century! :mad2:

And there is more :"Unknown but Highly Collectible, Value varies I know some are very Rare, and some can be worth from $35,000.00 to $75,000.00 to Collectorsa, Listing this piece at what I feel is a Reasonable Price to high end collectors"
$ 35,000?? Maybe, if you find a highly collectable Steiff bear from the early 1900's in mint condition with his original button in his ear.

This is outrageous.

:cute: one more reason to bid - this bear is rare :rolleye2::rolleye2::huh::ashamed::weird:
even such rare that it cannot exist as described....

Oh - by the way - I have a hug of bears that I highly recommand - you don't know me - so I'm an "unknown" ....and ,for sure,I feel reasonable for my prices!
I promise to all of you that I ask less than 25 000 $ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I sure would like to write to these people and tell them that people are laughing at their prices. They are big sellers on eBay and I wonder if their other stuff is over priced I did not look. They are suppose to be antique dealers and I don't think they did their research on this bear. Their reputation is going down with even trying to sell an "unknown" bear at this price. They were not even sure of the eyes, glass or plastic. They thought plastic which wouldn't be in a bear before, I think, the 1940's?

WOW, everything about this bear is unknown and he is not in the greatest shape so that makes him worth $25,000? Hummmmmmmmm, I think I have a few bears to sell, just let me scruff them up a bit!

I hope dude enjoys those bears, because he/she is going to probably be keeping them for a while.

Of course, that dude probably doesn't love bears, he just wants to take bear lovers for a ride.

I contacted the owner of this bear and asked if I can post a picture of this bear on the teddybearsforum and this was his reply "

Thanks for your interest in this unique little bear, Feel free to post it on your Forum perhaps someone can give me a idea who it was made by or the value of it. I believe it is Mid-1800 or very early 1900s . Appears little hole in one ear perhaps there was a tag or button but unsure. I have no idea if I have it over priced or under priced. A few have messaged and said I have the value to high perhaps it is I am unsure any Info would be helpful.
Thank You,
Glenn

I don't know what to think, Elize. :?:
One thing is for sure: he doesn't know the first thing about teddy bears. I guess he read somewhere about the prices paid for the very exclusive Steiff teddies and he just assumed that it was a normal price to pay for any old bear.
Or he is very cunning and knows exactly how much it's worth, but still hopes to trick some unsuspecting (and very rich) collector.
It still seems fishy to me.:confused2:

peterbear I send the owner of the bear a link to the post as well and have not a heard a word since then.:confused2:

I just had a look now and the price has been reduced to R 16 250.00 and the listing is no longer available. :puzzled:

If I had to sell something on Ebay and I was unsure about the value I would do a bit of research - maybe there is a snake in the grass:weird:
