I had a bat box installed on the side of my house today. We stay next to a river and are under constant attack by mosquitoes in summer. Encouraging bats is a natural way of getting rid of those pesky mozzies! A single bat house may become home to 100 or so bats, which will consume up to 60,000 insects a night! As I am excited about my bat box I just had to share it."happy6:

WOW! What a great idea and what a wonderful thing for the environment
:applause:

I would love to see a photo of your bat box once you have some residents
I do a similar thing but with spiders, I know, I know, it sounds creepy :eek:but it works, over the past few years I have allowed spider to make their webs on my toilet ceiling, they seem to know they aren’t allowed to venture into the rest of the house, like your bats Elize they are kept very busy netting all the pesky mozzies and I don’t have to use any nasty sprays, it wooks very well.

In fact my daughter and I have named a few, one old girl has been “hanging” around for about 3 years now, her name’s Charlotte ( of course )

Oh Yes!! I forgot to say it is a great deterrent for unwanted visitors too!!

I check everyday at dusk if I have any bats - will let everyone know as soon as I have a bat :Winking: Even try to buy some but it is impossible. Spiders :eek::eek: I must admit after seeing Charlottes web I look at spiders with different eyes.
