hi friends,
i found this little guy on a fleamarket today. he's in good condition for his age, although i don't think he's pre-war. his mohair has a slight pink tinge. he's all original - even his card-lined footpads are without holes or tears. he has had small stitching repairs, but nothing torn or ripped, merely loosened seams that were stitched together again. he's woodwool filled, has a non-working side squealer and glass eyes. the pink felt in his mouth has been airbrushed. his inset nose is of a lighter mohair, matching his large feet. his front seam is hand sewn. he measures 28 cm in a standing position.
his black nose stitching is definitely original - vertically stitched. he has 4 black sewn claws on his huge, flat feet, but only 3 claws on his front paws. his red collar seems to be original too. he has a little knot at the back of his head, near the neck, where the eyes are fastened.
i find him adorable :cute: and am trying to figure out, which austrian makers (or other german makers) copied the original steiff teddy baby. i'm always thankful for tips or hints from the forum.
