hi friends,

i found this little guy on a fleamarket today. he's in good condition for his age, although i don't think he's pre-war. his mohair has a slight pink tinge. he's all original - even his card-lined footpads are without holes or tears. he has had small stitching repairs, but nothing torn or ripped, merely loosened seams that were stitched together again. he's woodwool filled, has a non-working side squealer and glass eyes. the pink felt in his mouth has been airbrushed. his inset nose is of a lighter mohair, matching his large feet. his front seam is hand sewn. he measures 28 cm in a standing position.

his black nose stitching is definitely original - vertically stitched. he has 4 black sewn claws on his huge, flat feet, but only 3 claws on his front paws. his red collar seems to be original too. he has a little knot at the back of his head, near the neck, where the eyes are fastened.

i find him adorable :cute: and am trying to figure out, which austrian makers (or other german makers) copied the original steiff teddy baby. i'm always thankful for tips or hints from the forum.

yes, he's really cute - and i don't have even a remotely similar one in my collection, so i'm very pleased to have him sitting with some of my other bears...

how 'bout you?? you haven't shown any new teds you've found for ages... nothing to "show and tell"??

sorry to hear that you haven't been feeling well. hope you don't have to be on the road while you're feeling sickly! your own warm, snuggly bed is often the best medicine, especially this time of year.

hope you're your robust old self again soon... in time for Gulliver who will leave Austria this week.

Thanks, Tush!! I am excited that Gulliver will soon be winging his way to Wales!! No, no more travelling until our big Ireland adventure (with Gulliver!) mid December!!
I will have the big decision to make.....that is, who is going to be lucky enough to accompany Gulliver??!! :dance2:

Awesome Teddy Baby from Austria :Winking:

thanks chris!! i think i got lucky with this ted! he was really cheap too!!

are you sure he's "austrian made"? i've never heard of austrian companies who made teddy baby imitations.

do you perhaps know in what era he was manufactured? or how old this ted is?

danke für deine wertvollen tipps! (thanx for your valuable tips!)
