I'm on the verge of buying this HUGE Chiltern bear.... according to my "clever books" the BIG ones are quite rare and hard to find... I just find him adorable and am soooooo happy to finally find a CHILTERN in Austra for a really fair price!! :dance2: :dance1:

YES!!! He's MINE!!! just spoke to the lady who was selling him... (she was on holiday until today) and i've just transferred the money to her account!!
I should have him later this week... :dance2: :dance1:
he belonged to her elder sister (who was born in 1950) - and who died unexpectantly (pneumonia) when she was 8 .. and the bear was kept for the next child - who only arrived 8 years later... and she's had the bear her whole life. now both her parents have died too and she wants to free herself from a lot of things from her past...
she was very relieved to hear that he was coming to a good home!! he's still in a totally original condition - nothing has been done or changed on him.
I can't wait to hold him in my arms .... will upload pics once he's here ...

thanks, girls ...
i still can't quite believe that it "worked" .. i was sure he would've been sold already - that was my biggest fear when i called the lady in Villach... was actually stunned when she said he was still "for sale" ...
i really hope i have him by the end of the week ... but i suppose i'll have to be as patient as Lovenshire .... who also had to wait for her new "Snowflake Ted" ... sigh ....and Elize - who is also waiting for her cute little Ebay bear... sigh ...

in the add it said that he was 68 cm tall... but on the phone the lady said +- 65 cm... so i'm not quite sure... possibly she first measured him from heel to ear and then from heel to head...
we'll see ... i'm still a "lady in waiting" (love the pun on this one!! well done!!) but maybe he'll arrive in the post tomorrow ...

How exciting. He is a beautiful bear indeed. Now little brother won't have to be lonely; he has big brother to watch out for him.

thanks, Elize - I love him dearly - and he really is very huggable ... :cute::cute:
he's much lighter than i thought he'd be - as he's filled with kapok and not woodwool (only in his head) .... i have large german bears that are his size but weigh at least twice as much as he does - because they're filled with woodwool all over...
i also find the 2 chilterns very cute together - as they have the same mohair colour and the identical paw pad colour and probably come from the same era, possibly even from a similar pattern... i just need to fix the little one's nose... then the likeness will be perfect! :happy3:
