Hi there can anyone help to identify this old fella???
I am a complete teddy novice found this guy in an auntys collection he has no identifying marks think he is stuffed with wood shavings? Missing his eyes and not in a very good condition sorry details are few but i love him all the same and would love to know his maker?

Roz :welcome: to the forum.
My first instinct is to say this fella looks like a US stick bear. :puzzled:
I'll go through "the books" and post a picture as well.

The American teddy bear makers were trying to copy German manufacturers. From the end of WW1, the quality of the bears were not that good. The arms and legs were thin like sticks and in some cases the legs and arms were not the same length.
These bears were mass produced and no labels were attached.
The stick bear in the picture on the left is from 1920 and made from mohair plush and it has a sparse pile.
The stick bear on the right is from 1927 and his arms, legs and body are virtually straight, and therefor easier and cheaper to make.

I know this is an old post. But I think I may have inherited a "stick" bear. Did they have growlers? Because mine definitely does.
