I bought this lovely old teddy bear at an antiques market today. I was told it is a "Polish Teddy Bear" :rolleye2:I spend about 3 hours going through all my books and I am not sure if he is Polish:puzzled:
His features: Artificial silk
Claws - Hands 4 & Feet 5 (feet claws spread very wide on foot)
Stuffing - Woodwool
Size - 70cm
Eyes - Amber, glass eyes with black pupils sewn into face
Nose - Brown (faded) Inverted V-shape
Paw pads - Artificial silk turned inside out
Ears - Cupped ears are set over facial seams
He came with his little leather school bag"happy6:

Hi Elize, He sure looks Polish and your description makes me think he is too.
He is a very nice example, some can be (in my opinion) a little strange looking:Winking:.. but your old fellow is a little bit of a cutie, love his back pack!! :dance2:

Yes I am more convinced he is Polish, :happy3: because in all the books the Polish bears are the only ones who have their artificial silk turned inside out for paw pads. My bear has got a big wooden disk which his head rotates onto his body - clearly visible in the picture - I have never seen a disc like this either. :puzzled:
His backpack looks like the ones we had in grade 1 "happy6:

Yes, he's Polish, dont you think? I'm pretty sure he is too..he is very cute, great find..:dance3:may I ask, was he expensive?

I paid R1000.00 which is about AUD 146.82 ($122.87) I have no idea if this is a good price ;)
